TB CARE II is excited to announce a new project in Vietnam.  With support from URC and Partners In Health, the National TB Program in Vietnam will introduce the FAST strategy to reduce TB transmission among both health care workers and patients in the healthcare facilities and in the community. FAST, an innovative approach developed by the TB CARE II project, assists health providers and facility managers to  Find TB cases Actively through cough surveillance, Separate them until diagnosis, and initiate effective Therapy early. FAST focuses on using rapid TB diagnosis methods to promote detection and diagnose TB and MDR TB cases for early and effective treatment initiations.

TB CARE II will collaborate to implement the FAST strategy with Quang Nam and Nam Dinh Provincial Hospitals of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases. Over an 18-month period, the project team will aim to demonstrate the impact of an integrated approach to active case finding and infection control, building on the experience of TB CARE II in implementing FAST in diverse settings from Bangladesh to Zambia. Through simple measures, interventions such as these can help communities reduce the number of TB infections and help patients get the treatment they need.
